Featured Athlete of the Week – Thomas Matsell – Saltfleet

Thomas is truly an exceptional student athlete.  In his grade nine year he competed in five different sports.  He led his touch football team to a city championship, he played on the junior volleyball team and the grade nine rugby teams helping both to achieve great success.  He competed at OFSAA in Track and Field throwing both discuss and shot put.  An integral part of the junior basketball team, Thomas and his teammates defeated MacNab to win the city championship.  In his current grade ten year, Thomas continues to excel.  He led the junior volleyball team to an incredible season narrowly missing out on a birth in the city championship.  With the boys basketball season getting started, the Saltfleet community is excited to see what Thomas can accomplish this year. With all of his incredible accomplishments on the field and on the court, Thomas’ greatest contribution to Saltfleet continues to be his leadership, character and integrity.  If the gym needs to be set up, Thomas is there.  If his phys-ed class needs leadership, Thomas provides it.  His attitude is incredible.  He has achieved great things and in every area of Saltfleet and he makes those around him better.  We at Saltfleet look forward to the many incredible things Thomas will accomplish over the next few years.  Congratulations Thomas!
