SOCCER-G: Westdale rolls to perfect season

2014-15 Division-I Girls Soccer Champions – Westdale Warriors

HAMILTON (May 22, 2015) – The Westdale Warriors captured the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board Division-I Girls Soccer Championship with a decisive 4-0 win over Ancaster High School at Heritage Green Sports Park on Friday afternoon.

The win marked just the second time the Warriors have won a girls soccer title with their first coming in 2009-10 season. It also capped a perfect season for Westdale as the Warriors rolled to a 7-0 regular season record and then added three more wins in the playoffs.

Westdale’s Jamila Abrams was the star of the game notching a natural hat-trick before teammate Francesca D’Eon added a late goal in the second half. Abrams scored two in the first and notched a third goal midway through the the second half. Breanne Hyslop recorded the championship shutout for Westdale.

The Warriors advance to the Southern Ontario Secondary School Association (SOSSA) championship on May 27 at Redeemer University College . Westdale will matchup against Saint Paul CSS (Niagara Falls) in that game. Admission is $2.00.

On Monday (May 25), Sir Winston Churchill SS will face Sherwood SS at Mohawk Sports Park for the Division-II Girls Soccer championship. That game will kickoff at 3:00pm.
