Update Regarding Concerning Social Media Post

November 30, 2020

Dear families,

Hamilton Police Service continues to follow up on a concerning social media post that was shared last night. At this time, the police have not located any evidence to substantiate the online post.

As a result, and as a precautionary measure, HWDSB decided that teaching and learning would take place remotely today and our school would be closed for in-person learning while police investigated the post. We take these matters extremely seriously and notified the police as soon as we were made aware.

Sherwood remains a safe school for our students and staff. Our school will resume its regularly scheduled program (Track B) tomorrow, Tuesday, December 1, 2020. Police will continue to be visible around the community as students return to school.

Student and staff safety is of the utmost importance. We will not tolerate acts that deliberately interfere with regular school routines or that incite fear among our community. Staff will reinforce safety procedures with students. Our school is a safe place and is made safer when everyone can do their part.

Anyone with information should report anonymously to Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). You may also report to HWDSB Helps app via text 905-963-0066, download the HWDSB Helps app for iOS and Android or use the Web chat at bit.ly/HWDSBhelpswebchat.

We thank Hamilton Police Service for their support. We also thank the staff for their leadership and for quickly adapting to full remote learning.

Please contact the school via email [email protected] or call 905-383-3377 if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Michelle Visca
Principal
