Accessible Parking Construction

April 12, 2019

Dear Parents, Guardians and Caregivers,

As we near the warmer spring months, I am very pleased to tell you about some important construction work you will soon see at Sherwood.  Our Facilities Management Department has approved the addition of two accessible parking spaces, an improvement that will welcome all students and visitors.

The construction work includes:

  • Creation of two new barrier-free parking spaces located in front of the school
  • Landscaping around the parking spots that will create pleasing sightlines and appropriate walkways
  • Sidewalk and curb adjustments that will permit sloped access into the parking spaces.

I would like to thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation as we begin our work which will start around April 15th, weather permitting.  The work should be completed by July 2019.  At times we will ask our busses to drop-off/pick-up students further along High Street. Our staff will be there to make sure that students needing assistance are well supported.  The contractors are aware of our bell times and will schedule their work accordingly.

If you are driving to Sherwood, or if you are picking up students, please consider Princeton Street (the fareast side of the school) rather than High Street which is actually a no-parking zone. Before and after school hours are particularly busy. For safety reasons, and to accommodate our cabs and busses that transport students needing easy access, please do not park or stop on High Street. Follow the posted signs further north on High Street if you must park.

This is an exciting time at Sherwood, and we’re looking forward to the updates at our school. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at 905-383-3377.

Sincerely,

Beth Woof
Principal
