Water testing

Dear Families,

Recently, our school underwent water testing for lead, in accordance with the provincial regulations (O.Reg 243/07). As a result of this testing, concerns were identified within the school. Corrective actions have been taken to prevent lead exposure. This includes temporarily removing two drinking water fixtures from service.

In addition to informing the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks, our Occupational Health and Safety Department has consulted with Hamilton Public Health Services to ensure appropriate corrective actions in the circumstance have been taken for the safety of your child. The drinking water fixture will not be returned to service until repairs have been made, re-sampling takes place and the Board and Hamilton Public Health Services are both satisfied that the corrective actions in place have reduced lead levels below the limit in the Ontario Drinking Water Quality Standard (10 μg/L or 0.010 mg/L).

If you have any questions, please contact me at 905-383-3337.
