ARTS & CULTURE:
What is Arts & Culture SHSM?
The Arts & Culture Specialist High Skills Major is an option for students who are:
1) interested in taking Arts [Drama, Dance, Media Arts, Photography, Visual Arts] courses in
grade 11 and 12, and/ or
2) interested in pursuing post-secondary studies/ career in a Creative field
Students will complete a cooperative education placement within the Arts & Culture or Creative
Sector. This opportunity allows students to experience the workplace and start to build
connections and network within the sector that interests them.
Students will experience hands-on workshops, reach ahead opportunities (to post secondary
institutions and career shows), memorable interactive field trips (virtual during Covid protocols),
and guest speakers/ artists.
Students will select courses within their senior years that interest them while working toward
graduation.
