September 2025 Welcome Back Message
Dear Huntington Park Families,
We would like to take this opportunity to welcome our families to the 2025-26 school year at Huntington Park!
With a growing community, we look forward to welcoming our returning and new families. Please rely on our school website and the Parent Portal to access information and inform you of your child’s homeroom teacher for the 2025-26 school year.
As we begin this school year, we have several staffing updates to share. We will be welcoming a new Vice-Principal to Huntington Park this year. To start the school year, Mr. Hazell will be our temporary retired administrator supporting us in the role of Vice-Principal. We look forward to welcoming Mr. Hazell as he transitions with us for start-up! We also welcome Ms. Watson our teacher in the primary division teaching Grade 1 along with Ms. Ducroix who will be supporting our Junior division teaching Grade 5. We look forward to welcoming our new staff members who will contribute to our school community over the course of this school year!
Class placement is a collaborative team process that our educators invest in to create the most optimal classroom dynamic for our students. Thank you for respecting their professionalism to ensure your child will learn in the most optimal environment based on their learning skills and achievement. A considerable amount of time and thought goes into placement decisions. Please note, changes to class placements are not being considered at this time. This year your child’s class placement has been communicated to you via the parent portal (https://ps.hwdsb.on.ca/public/home.html) beginning the last week of August. Our dedicated and caring staff will work with you to support students in transitioning to their new classrooms. If you have any specific concerns about your child, please reach out to your child’s homeroom teacher.
The first day of school for all Grade 1-8 students is Tuesday, September 2nd. On Tuesday, students in Grades 1-8 will meet their teachers at the back of the school on the black top. Students will look for a sign with their teacher’s name on it. Students will gather as a class with their teacher guiding them through entry routines upon the 8:40 a.m. entry bell. Staff on duty will be on the school yard to supervise and assist students 15 minutes before and after school each day. If you require any assistance, please look for a staff member in an orange vest who will be happy to help during entry and dismissal routines throughout the school year.
To all of our Kindergarten families, the standardized school entry timeline for this year is as follows: Tuesday September 2nd -All children new to kindergarten and/or the school are invited in for a short visit with a caregiver. Wednesday September 3rd – All children new to kindergarten & all children entering year 2 of kindergarten begin full day attendance.
If your child is taking the bus this year, they will be met by staff upon arrival and supported by staff at the end of the day. It is very important that your child knows how they will be getting home at the end of each day. Please take some time to review bussing with your child and the expectations of respectful behaviour & travelling safely on the bus. During start-up, bus transportation may experience some delays; your cooperation and understanding is greatly appreciated.
On our website you will find more detailed information about bell times, our staff & system messaging. If you have any questions following start-up, please contact your child’s homeroom teacher or contact the main office at 905-383-3305.
We also invite families to keep up with communications from HWDSB by subscribing to email updates or following HWDSB on social media.
