Weekly News Sept. 6

Hi All,

What a wonderful beginning to our school year.  During the early days of September, we are learning our routines at our new grade levels.  During this time, there will be new learning and new relationships that will help us all to grow.

Our school improvement plan this year will continue to be focusing on

• ensuring 75% of our grade 1 students are reading at grade level by the end of the school year and
• improving in our mathematics as measured by EQAO.

Relationships are pivotal in learning environments.  Feeling safe and supported enhances trust and build bonds between people.  This summer we had a positive  relationship extend beyond the school of which began at school during reading buddies.  Our reading buddy program helps our students learn to read and form  solid friendships.
Levi and Willem have seen each other multiple times over the summer, bonding over their love of history. During the summer, Willem went with Levi to see an exhibit at the Warplane Museum.  This is a good news story worthy of sharing and exemplifies the strong community bonds that are at this school!
