The first Huntington Park School Council Meeting for the 2019-20 school year is on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at 6:30pm in the school library. At this meeting, our executive council will be elected and membership voting rights will be established. A membership/nomination form is included in the information package that is sent home with each student the first week of school. Volunteer opportunities will also be discussed. School Council meetings are open to parents, caregivers and community members.

The Role of School Council:
• focus on student learning and the best interests of all students
• provide a forum through which parents and other members of school communities can contribute to improving student achievement and school performance
• make recommendations to the school principal and the Board on matters impacting accountability and academic excellence
• serve as a communication and information channel between the school and community
• work with the school to prioritize how school-generated funds are budgeted and distributed
Volunteer Opportunities include:
• chaperoning field trips
• reading with students
• assisting in classrooms
• pizza days
• fundraisers and more

*Further information on requirements for volunteering will be discussed at the September School Council meeting or information can be obtained from the school office staff.
