Playground Rules and Behaviour

Playground games and activities are to promote positive and safe social interaction and must follow school and HWDSB Code of Conduct.

Students are on the playground before/after school, a.m/p.m/lunchroom recess. The rules and expectations apply at all times that students are on the playground.

Students receive teacher supervision 15 minutes before and after school and at all recesses.

Students are required to stay within the designated school playground boundaries.

Students are required to follow the three school rules:

  1. Keep your hands to yourself
  2. Keep your feet on the ground
  3. Watch what you say and how you say it !

Ball games and running activities are allowed on the grass area only.

The only ball games allowed on the blacktop are foursquare and basketball. No other ball games are permitted.

Students need to come prepared with appropriate seasonal outerwear.
i.e. boots in the winter with a change of footwear for indoors.

Students line up, enter and exit through their designated entry/exit grade doors at all times.

Students are to meet classmates or siblings on the playground.

Students are to go to the washroom before going outside.

Throwing snowballs, stones etc. is not permitted.

In the case of a BLACKTOP RECESS students are required to stay on the blacktop and off the field. This is to be a WALK and TALK recess. NO EQUIPMENT IS ALLOWED.

Skateboards, scooters and rollerblades are not to be used on school property.
