Weekly News Nov 19

Hi All,

Lockdown Practice

On Thursday November 23, 2017  at 12:00 p.m. we will be having a Lockdown Practice.  “Lockdown” is used when there is a violent incident or threat of serious violence within the school, or in relation to the school.  Threat is inside the school, or is on school property, and poses an immediate threat to the students and staff.  Follow current lockdown procedures.  All movement in and out of the school and within the school is restricted.  All school doors are locked during our practice.

School Travel Plan

Our school will be undergoing a School Travel Plan on Thursday November 23 beginning at 8:30 a.m.  Our goal is to promote the safety of all through more students and families walking to the school and traffic calming strategies.  There will be numerous groups involved from School Council rep., Teacher rep., Principal, Police rep., and City Hall rep. to name a few.  The findings will be given to our School Council at a School Council Meeting.

We will start with an observation of pedestrian, cyclist, and vehicle interactions during school arrival; and then walk a predetermined route through the school neighbourhood.  These observations will highlight areas of concern. The walking tour will be followed by a debriefing session where the group will discuss the issues they have just seen and set some short- and long-term goals to address these concerns.

Parking Spaces and Safety of All

Thank you for a positive response to our parking lot concerns and observing the traffic speed limits for the safety of all while driving.  Let’s continue our work together and please consider walking your child to school…you will get exercise and some fresh air!!!

Along with our website, it will give us an opportunity to be current in our communication with you.  The present sign will be removed.
