School Council – We are excited to announce that our first School Council Meeting and Election will take place on Wednesday, October 6 via MS Teams.  Thank you for your flexibility around the change of date.

School councils have a legislated role at their schools and are there to ensure the best possible education for students. Our school councils are comprised of democratically elected representatives of our parent community. Together, they:

• focus on student learning and the best interest of all students,
• provide a forum through which parents and other members of school communities can contribute to improving student achievement and school performance,
• make recommendations to the school principal and the Board on any matter they see impacting accountability and academic excellence and;
• serve as a communication and information channel between the school and community

• Parents/guardians of a student attending one of our schools can vote in a school council election and run as a parent member. Parents can nominate themselves by completing a nomination ballot and returning it to the school.
• Every year, the school council will elect a chair from the parent members. The chair is responsible for facilitating meetings and accurately representing the school council’s position on issues. The council may also elect a co-chair, vice-chair, secretary or treasurer.

Photo Day – We understand that some families received a direct email from Edge Imaging regarding photo day.  Please disregard this email as it was sent by Edge in error.  Photo days are currently on pause in HWDSB.  We will communicate with families once we are able to reschedule.

Agendas – We are asking for a $5 contribution via SchoolCash online for classroom’s using student agenda.  The item will be posted again this week for parents to access.

Safe Schools Advisory Committee – HWDSB is welcoming students, families and community partners to participate in Safe Schools Action Plan Advisory Groups. Your voices are important as our board determines the actions to be taken as part of the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board (HWDSB) Safe Schools Action Plan. The Advisory Groups will meet a minimum of once a month (virtually for now).

There is no application process. They will be accepting names from October 4 to October 15, 2021. To share an interest in joining, email or call and provide the following:

3. Advisory Group you wish to join (Student, Parent/Guardian/Caregiver, Community Partner)
