Mary Hopkins News – Aug 25

Hello Families,

As the Mary Hopkins staff prepare for our return, I am certain there are many questions.  Over the next week, you will continue to receive news and information through the call system.  This important HWDSB information will be also posted on the website at https://www.hwdsb.on.ca/about/covid19/ .  Remember each school board and province has it’s own return to school plan, so be sure that you are getting information that is specific to our school and board.

The volume of information can be overwhelming, so I will do my best to highlight some key point.

  • We need to determine each family’s plan for school return. There are two choices, in-school or remote learning. We are asking that all families inform the school of their plans through the parent portal or alternate form by August 26.
  • Several requests for courtesy busing were received over the summer.  Unfortunately due to the restrictions and the need to assure distancing between students riders, there will be no courtesy busing at this time. Be sure to make alternate arrangements.
  • At Monday’s HWDSB Board meeting, the staggered school entry plan was confirmed for our students.  Please note the following important dates.
Aug 31 – School Office Reopens
Sept 7 – Labour Day – School Closed
Sept 8 & 9 – Transition Visits for High Needs Students
Sept 10 – Group A – Last Name A-K
Sept 11 – Group B – Last Name L-Z
Sept 14 – Group A – Last Name A-K
Sept 15 – Group B – Last Name L-Z
Sept 16 onward – All Students
  • Due to our changing enrolment, we may need to reorganize our classrooms.  More information will come next week once our final numbers are confirmed.

Stay posted as we will continue to provide further information around first day routines, day to day procedures and expectations.  Please reach out to the school via email or phone if you have any additional questions.
