From the Principal’s Desk – June 2025

As we come to close this school year, we are proud to share the following year end updates from Huntington Park!

Our graduating class of Grade 8’s celebrated the end to their Elementary school years at our Commencement Ceremony held on Monday June 23rd at Hill Park Learning Centre. We wish our Grade 8 students all the best as they look forward to Secondary school in the fall.

Term 2 Student achievement was communicated through the Report card and sent home with our students on Wednesday June 25th. Thank you for taking the time to review your child’s report and reflect upon strengths & next steps to celebrate the end to this school year. Friday June 27th is a P.A. Day for our school team and marks the beginning of summer holidays for our students!

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our School Council for their ongoing support to enhance school life for our students at Huntington Park. School Council had organized our Fundraisers, Pizza days for students, and enhanced our classroom environments to increase student engagement and learning opportunities in the areas of Literacy, Numeracy & Well-Being! This could not have been possible without the support of our School Council & parent community who contributed to our fundraising success!

If you are a Parent/Caregiver that has an interest in joining Huntington Park’s School Council, information will be sent home to all families in September outlining the process & welcoming you to attend our first meeting that will be held in early October.

Student Council played an active role in connecting to community by running bake sales to support McMaster Sick Kids. Huntington Park raised $2 000 in bake sales over the past 2 years and presented a cheque to McMaster early June. Thank you to our staff & students who led Student Council and brought opportunities to pay it forward and give back to community to make a difference – a job well done!

On behalf of the School team we would also like to take this opportunity to thank our departing staff members for their dedication to the Huntington Park Community. We thank Mr. Tondreau for his dedication & commitment to Huntington Park finishing his teaching career with us as our Gr. 4 teacher early fall. We wish Mr. Tondreau all the best in his retirement moving forward! His dedication and commitment to our staff, students and community was greatly appreciated over the years! A farewell to Ms. Gasparini our teacher in Primary who will move on to support her other school full-time in the fall. We wish Ms. Amaral all the best as she moves on to support the system as a DECE and thank her for her time & dedication to Huntington Park! You will be missed and we wish you all the best! Farewell to our EA, Ms. Forester who also will be moving on to support another school within the district. We also share a farewell to Ms. Owen a member of our custodial team who has already moved on to support another school within the system early June. Another farewell to Mr. Urbanek & Mr. Berrafati, our system staff who will be moving on to support other schools within the district in the fall. Thank you for your commitment & we wish you all the best in your transition. Also, a big thank you to our long-term occasional educators; Ms. Heuberger, Ms. Newhouse, Ms. Woitowicz, Ms. Ducroix & Ms. Descoteaux for their time and commitment to Huntington Park. Wishing all our departing staff a successful transition as they continue to support HWDSB across the system! We also have new staff to look forward to welcoming to the Huntington Park team in September. Ms. Aquilina & Ms. Kinnear who are both joining us as our Grade 1 teachers along with with Ms. Fothergill who will be our new ESL teacher in September. Ms. Wagner will also be our new Junior & Intermediate Music teacher starting with us in the fall.

Please note that all Elementary class placement communication regarding your child’s class placements will be shared the week before school begins starting on August 25, 2025 via the Parent Portal. Families may also call the school during this week for information.

As we come to the end of this school year, we recognize and reflect upon the success and achievement that our staff and students have accomplished together. As a collaborative team we also value the importance of building strong relationships with home and school and we appreciate the support that we have received from our Huntington Park families.

Wishing you a wonderful summer ahead!

Sincerely,

Ms. N. Radojevic & The Huntington Park School Team
