Important message from our Principal

Good afternoon, Mary Hopkins families,
As many may have noted, our facilities team has been hard at work ensuring that our parking lot and playground have been routinely ploughed throughout this past winter. Yes, it is officially spring 🙂
The last storm of the season resulted in a larger-than-life mound at the edge of our playground. I’m happy to share that this hazard was flattened overnight allowing better site lines/access to the field, in support of student safety.
A gentle reminder that students are not permitted on the snow hills at any time during the school day. Our school ‘supervision’ day begins at 9:00am through 3:50pm. Students receive frequent reminders regarding outdoor expectations to ensure safe, co-operative play. No one plans a fall, or bump, but sadly they happen all too often, especially with young children. Your assistance in supporting our message is appreciated.
Students are expected to join their class line upon arrival to wait for the bell. This is not a time to engage in games and play. At dismissal, we ask that parents remain at the edge of the playground to wait for their child. Establishing a regular spot will ensure a quick meeting. Teachers on duty maintain and enforce our school message that the hills are out of bounds at dismissal. This is our rule at Mary Hopkins. Your support in reminding your child and reinforcing this message in the coming days/weeks is greatly appreciated.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher or either member of the administration team. I look forward to seeing many of you at our School Council Meeting, tomorrow night @ 6:30pm.
In appreciation,
Susete Bloom
