Ramadan – Ramadan Mubarak to the Mary Hopkins families observing Ramadan.  To support students, we will have the library open during nutrition break for those who may be seeking an alternate space. Please reach out to your child’s teachers if there is any information you would like to share or considerations your child may need over the fasting period.

Grade 5 Save the Date – As we begin to plan for the end of the year, we wanted the families of our Grade 5 students to mark some important dates in their calendars.

June 27 – Farewell Assembly Rehearsal and Memorial Park Day
June 28 – Farewell Assembly (2pm – in person)

School Cash Online – A reminder that SchoolCash online will be used for any payments to the school.  Parents can find the link to SchoolCash on the left side of the Parent Portal menu.  New families will need to register the first time they use this site. INFO – SCO Parent Registration Flyer 2021-22

Volunteering – Whether it is helping out in a classroom, on an excursion, sports events, or in our school library, volunteers are important to us at Mary Hopkins. If you are interested in volunteering in any capacity you must complete a Vulnerable Sector Screening. This screening is easy to complete and can be obtained by applying online at Police Background Checks :: Hamilton Police Service :: Consumer :: Vulnerable Sector Scan (VS) (policesolutions.ca). Once complete, your VSS does not need to be renewed for 3 years.  Bring your VSS into the school office for verification and complete a volunteer package.

Visitors in School – As pandemic restrictions ease, we are excited that visitors, volunteers and third-party providers can begin to plan visits to our schools.

As of March 21, permitted visitors included those for 1:1 parent meetings, in-person guest speakers to support program, spectators for arts and athletics events outside the school day, and media.

As of April 4, permitted visits include those by newly registering families or students, parents picking up students during the school day, larger meetings with parents and staff (e.g., IPRC, intake) and school volunteers.

Visitors must check-in at the office, to sign in and out of the school. All visitors will wait at the office until they are invited to the location inside the school where they will be for their visit. Schools will offer visitors a medical mask to wear during their visit.
