Mary Hopkins News – Oct 11

Good Evening,

We hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend.  For those who celebrated Thanksgiving, we hope your day was filled with good food, family, and friends.

Upcoming Dates
Oct 15 – Fire Drill #3 (last fire drill for the fall season)

School Council – School Council had its first meeting last week.  We had a great turnout and hope that we can continue to maintain this level of attendance.  Our next meeting is planned for Wednesday, November 3 at 6:30 pm.  All meetings are open to any Mary Hopkins parents interested in attending.  Congratulations to Carley Casey who will be returning in the role of School Council chair this year.  If you would like to reach out to our School Council, the email address is [email protected].

Mask Hygiene – Please review good hygiene practices with your child with regard to their masks.  As masks tend to get wet and/or soiled throughout the day, be sure to send extras each day.  We do have new reusable masks that we can give to students if they have a mishap or forget their own.  If one of these masks comes home with your child, please know that it is yours to keep.

October 29th Spirit Day – Mary Hopkins students are invited to participate in a Spirit Day on Friday, October 29th by wearing a Halloween costume or dressing in fall colours (orange, red, yellow).  There will be no parade. Students will participate in the full school day in this attire.  Students wearing costumes should opt for a simplified version and leave extra accessories at home.  Food sharing is not allowed at this time so do not send in-class treats.

Dressing for the Weather – Don’t forget to send your child with clothes for both cold and wet weather.  Unless the weather is extreme, students will be kept outside in the mornings until the bell.  We also continue to take advantage of outdoor time to allow for fresh air, movement, and a break from wearing a mask.
