Lockdown Drill – The term “Lockdown” is used when there is a major incident or threat of school violence within the school or in relation to the school.  As part of our Secure School Protocol, the staff and students at Mary Hopkins practice Lockdown procedures twice annually. Prior to each drill, teachers will have age-appropriate discussions regarding the drill and their expectations. To ensure that there is no confusion, these rehearsals are clearly identified as drills via an announcement.  We have planned our second lockdown drill of the school year for Thursday, March 11th.  Due to Covid protocols, staff will be discussing the procedures during the drill rather than rehearsing the procedures. Please contact the school if you have any further questions regarding the Lockdown procedures at Mary Hopkins and/or review the Secure Schools Infographic.

Report Cards – Over the past two weeks, families should have received an electronic and print copy of their child’s report card.  There is no formal interview time connected with Term 1 Report Cards, however, parents can reach out to teachers if they have further questions.

Revised COVID Document– HWDSB recently revised many of its documents based on the updated Ministry screening.  If your child fails their daily screening at home or school, we ask that you begin with the following handout (My-Child-Has-COVID-Symptoms-March-4-2021) to help determine your next steps.

Families Worrying Less Together – If you are a parent/primary caregiver of a student in Grade JK- 2 or Grade 3-6 who is excessively shy, or has intense worries and fears, come
learn about the “Families Worrying Less Together” program. Please join our social work team on March 30 if you are interested in learning more. Families Worrying Less Together Info Night Flyer-March 30, 2021
