School Council – There will be no School Council in December.  The next School Council meeting will be in January.  Meeting details and posted minutes can be found on our School Council page.

Lockdown Drill – The term “Lockdown” is used when there is a major incident or threat of school violence within the school or in relation to the school.  As part of our Secure School Protocol, the staff and students at Mary Hopkins practice Lockdown procedures twice annually. Prior to each drill, teachers will have age-appropriate discussions regarding the drill and their expectations. To ensure that there is no confusion, these rehearsals are clearly identified as drills via an announcement.  We have planned our first lockdown drill of the school year for Tuesday, December 8th.  Due to Covid protocols, staff will be discussing the procedures during the drill rather than rehearsing the procedures. Name Change –  If you have a child in any HWDSB school that would like to request a name change on our electronic platforms because their birth name misgenders them, please see the attached information and contact the school. Transgender-NameChangeFlyer-2020-parent

Winter Celebration Assembly – Although we cannot get together in person as a school, our staff and students continue to run remote assemblies and celebrations within the school using MS Teams.  Unfortunately, because of media consent restrictions, we cannot share videos publically. Media consent forms can be found on the Parent Portal and can be reviewed or revised by calling our office.
