March Principal’s Message

Happy Friday Norwood Park Families,

March is here and it looks like we’re in for milder weather.  Thank you for your patience as we have navigated the ice and ice melt on the school playground. We are working with the facilities department to explore solutions to improve the conditions of our field. We hope the snow and ice are almost behind us for this year and we’re glad to be able to get outside and enjoy the fresh air. Spring is just around the corner.

This week marked one year since the World Health Organization declared COVID a pandemic. Our flag has been flying at half-mast to mark this occasion. I would like to take the time to point out how resilient our Norwood Park community has been in the face of a difficult year. Parents, students and staff have taken the changes in stride, and have worked hard to follow the new and changing protocols. While it has been difficult at times, the support and kindness we continue to show each other go a long way in helping to keep everyone safe and well.

Spring Transition Information

The final opportunity to transition between Remote learning and in-person schooling is coming soon. On Monday, March 15th a message will be going home through School Messenger and be posted to the school’s website sharing the details of this next transition. Please note that the ability to transition between Remote and in-person learning is dependent upon the program you wish to transition to having space available.

March Break Postponement

A reminder that the Ministry of Education postponed March Break and schools will be open next week. Our spring break will now be April 12-16th.

Dogs on School Property

We know many families love their pets and they are a big part of daily life. We see many people out walking dogs in our neighbourhood, which is wonderful!

Sometimes we might forget that some people are afraid of dogs due to a negative experience, allergies, or not knowing how to safely interact with a dog.

Please keep your dogs on the perimeter of the school property and do not bring them on school property, or up to the doors, when bringing your children to school and when picking them up at the end of the day.

Thank you for respecting all members of our school community.
