Our School is excited to invite students who are interested in being a part of the HWDSB Student Senate to write a short paragraph highlighting their attributes, skills, and passion for being a leader in the school this year. These paragraphs will be due on Thursday, October 9 to Mrs. Dickenson. The paragraphs will be reviewed and a qualified student will be chosen at random. To properly represent out school, one student will be chosen from the English Stream and one student from the French Stream. The selection of our Student Senators will be made by Tuesday, October 15.

The Elementary Student Senate will consist of grade 7 and 8 students throughout the school board. Senators should be interested in engaging in system-wide leadership, committed to attending regular meetings, and committed to participating in school and system discussions and activities. Senators should be willing to listen, learn and engage with different students across the board, have a positive attitude and be open to different opinions and ideas. It is important that the successful candidates are organized and able to attend all meetings; they will be asked to read the agenda ahead of time and be the connection between the Senate and the student body. It is important to recognize that these meetings take place at the Education Centre (across from Limeridge Mall), after school hours; it is the responsibility of family members to arrange transportation for their students.

Structure of a HWDSB Student Senate Meeting:

4- 5:30 pm: Secondary Senate (Grades 9-12)

5:30-6:00: Light Dinner

6-7 pm: Elementary Senate
