Year End Newsletter

Dear Families,

Thank You – As we come to the close of another incredible school year, I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude to all of you. This year has been filled with unforgettable moments, meaningful growth, and a strong sense of community that we’ve built together. To our students and families—thank you for your energy, your support, and for making this year so memorable. I also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our dedicated staff. Their commitment to our students, both inside and outside the classroom, has been nothing short of inspiring. Their passion and care have helped create a nurturing environment where every student can thrive. This year, we also say goodbye to three beloved members of our school community: Mr. Weir, Mr. Steel, and Mme. Ledonne. Their years of service, dedication, and care have left a lasting impact on the lives of so many students. They will be deeply missed, and we wish them all the best in their well-earned retirements.

I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank our School Council for their continued support. Through initiatives like the Give, Read, Grow campaign, Kanétskare Café, and the Scholastic Book Fair, we were able to raise funds to purchase new  books and furniture for our library.

Report Cards – Report cards will be sent home this Wednesday. I encourage you to take some time to review them with your child, celebrate their accomplishments, and begin thinking about goals for the upcoming school year. Every step forward is worth recognizing.

Next Year’s Class Placements-Looking ahead, families will be able to access class placements for the 2025–2026 school year starting August 25 through the Parent Portal. Please note that the school office will be closed over the summer and will reopen on Monday, August 25. Any report cards that were not distributed in June can be picked up during the week of August 25th.

Save the Date – Please save the date for our 50th Anniversary Celebration and Fall Open House, which will take place on Thursday, October 16, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. More details will be shared when we return in September.

Summer Construction – Over the summer, our school will be undergoing some construction. The flooring in the hallways will be replaced, the entrance to the gym and the divider door between the school and the recreation centre will be modified to enhance safety, and all lockers will be freshly painted. We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back to a refreshed and improved space.

Fall Construction – The City of Hamilton is expected to start the construction on the HAAA grounds sometime in September, which means we will lose access to the field area once it starts. More information will be shared once the City finalizes the details with the contractors and how it will impact the school.

As your principal, I want to sincerely thank you for your continued partnership. We could not have done it without each other. Together, we’ve built a strong, caring, and resilient school community.
Wishing you and your family a safe, restful, and joyful summer. We look forward to seeing everyone back on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
