Kanétskare Coyotes Happenings Dec. 23rd, 2022

Dear Parents/Caregivers:

We had a super last week of 2022, at Kanétskare Elementary School.  I would like to thank the staff for their proactivity by planning and rescheduling our Winter Wonderland Activities for yesterday.  I saw our students ‘bust-a-move’ at the dance, enjoy Art activities, watch a holiday movie and participate in some fun and competitive board games.  It’s so nice to see our students, your children, interacting so positively.

Our first monthly Coyote Assembly took place yesterday where we took the time to recognize and celebrate our successes over the first few months which included participation in 3-Pitch, Cross-Country, Volleyball, Renaming Committee, The Walking Group who raised money to purchase food for families in need and our Choir.  Additionally, I spoke about Habits of Mind, which are problem solving and thinking strategies that support well-being and student learning.  We will continue to emphasize these habits on a daily basis to improve our collective ability to interact, think and reflect to make a solid contribution to our school community.  Our focus for the month of January is on the following two Habits:

Creating, Imagining, Innovating—Thinking about how something might be done differently from the norm.  Propose New ideas; Strive for Originality; Consider novel suggestions others might make.

Managing Impulsivity:  Take time to consider option; Think before speaking or acting;, Remain calm when stressed or challenged; Thoughtful and considerate of others; proceed carefully.
