January’s Principal Message

A January update for our Rockton Families!!
As we head towards the end of January there is lots happening here at Rockton!!
  • Sr Girls & Boys Basketball season is under way
  • Bus Safety Training January 23rd
  • Rockton Spirit Day Thursday January 25th  ( wear you spirit wear)
  • PD day January 26th
  • Pizza and Sub days continue
  • Term 1 report cards come home Feb 16th
This coming Friday is a PD day across HWDSB, education staff at Rockton will be working through assessment and evaluation preparation in order to provide families with a Term 1 update. This reporting  period covers communication of learning and achievement from September to the beginning of February. Families can expect to see this report come home on February 16th.
This week all students will participate in Bus Transportation Safety Training. HWSTS provides bus training for elementary students, as a way to support and encourage rider safety. We ask that families have discussions with their students following Tuesdays training, as a way to support the important messages around rider safety and rider expectations. Many of our youngest riders are having difficulty following some of these safety rules, specifically remaining seated,  we ask parents for their assistance in reinforcing these important rules.
We would also like to thank families for their ongoing patience, as we experience delays on some of our bus routes. HWSTS is working to ensure more timely communication when delays occur due to driver absence or mechanical breakdown.
Finally, we would like to extend a huge thank you to all those who supported the annual Rockton School Turkey Skate back in December. Thank you to our School Council members,  our army of Parent Volunteers, and the Cope Town Lions who helped sponsor the skate. Thank you for sharing your time and talents with us, from cooking, rotating meal set-ups, help on the ice and the change rooms, cleaning and managing the event from start to finish.  It was impressive to witness such a wonderful community event, the staff and students thoroughly enjoyed the day! Our sincere thanks to all for a job well done!
