James MacDonald School – Halloween Information

Halloween is quickly approaching and for many of our students it is a time of excitement.  As part of our afternoon celebrations, we would like to invite parents & caregivers, family, friends, and community members to come observe our students in a Halloween Costume Parade.  Please note that our parade will begin at approx. 1:45 p.m.

Ideally, our parade route will take students outside through the gym doors at the back of the school.  We ask that parents wait outside, on the back playground, to view the parade of students.  Should the weather not cooperate, parents will be invited to wait in the gymnasium to view the parade.  We ask that parents do not wait in the school hallways as we want to keep all hallways as clear as possible in case of emergency.

We ask that students do not wear costumes to school.  They may bring their costumes with them to school to put on in the afternoon.  Please make sure that your child’s costume does not have any elaborate parts (that could get lost or make it difficult for them to put on) and that the costume is something in which they can dress themselves.  It would be easiest for them if they had a costume they could put on over their clothes.  We ask that student costumes be culturally respectful and that costumes do not include weapons of any kind.  Masks should not hinder vision and will be allowed to be worn for the parade.  Students will be asked to not wear masks at other times of the day.

This is a “Special Day” under our Nutrition Policy.  Please still be aware however that if you are sending in treats, they must be NUT FREE.  Your child’s teacher will alert students to any other specific allergies in the classroom.  Individually wrapped snacks are easiest to share.

Thank you.
