MADD Canada SmartWheels Program Visits Highview School (Gr. 4-6)

Thanks to Ms. Biggs for coordinating a visit from the MADD Canada RV on Tuesday, June 4th, 2019 for our students in grades 4-6. Please see below for more information:

SmartWheels is an Ontario-curriculum based program delivered in a modern, leading-edge fully equipped mobile RV.  Impactful, on-the-go and self-contained, this mobile classroom is visiting Highview School on June 4th, 2019. 

Every day, on average in Canada, there are 3.5 people killed and hundreds more injured due to impaired driving.  About 1200 people are killed and tens of thousands are injured each year as a result of car crashes involving alcohol and/or drugs.  Impaired driving causes nearly 60% of fatal collisions.  

SmartWheels raises student’s awareness about the risks of alcohol and drugs before they are exposed to them, influences responsible decision-making and teaches safety strategies. 

SmartWheels is inspiring and empowering young people to make a difference and be the generation that chooses not to drive impaired by alcohol and/or drugs.
