Shelter in Place Drill

This post is being sent to update you on where we are with respect to another Secure Schools Protocol drill that we will be participating in this year. The intent is to share both teacher/staff responsibilities, as well as important information that should be reinforced with your students to ensure we are all prepared and ready for an emergency situation, should one arise. This correspondence is in specific reference to an upcoming “Shelter in Place” drill we will be participating in as a school.
Shelter in Place“: (recommended by Police, Fire Dept. Emergency Medical Service (EMS), etc.)
• is used for an environmental, or weather related situation, where it is necessary to keep all occupants within the school to protect them (e.g. may include chemical spills, blackouts, explosions or extreme weather conditions)
• people enter and remain in a building with the doors and windows closed
• fans, including heating and air conditioning units, should be turned off to prevent outside air from entering the building
• normal operations may continue within the building
We will be holding our Shelter in Place Drill on Monday, November 30.
