What is School Council?
- An important advisory body to the school and school board.
- A cooperative body that is composed of parents, staff members, and others in the community.
Why is School Council Important?
- Helps improve student achievement by placing student interests first.
- Establishes a positive relationship with the school principal and staff.
- Increases accountability of the education system to parents.
- Promotes effective, ongoing communication among all partners in education.
- Advises the principal/trustee/superintendent in making decisions on: school improvement planning, fundraising, extracurricular activities, budget priorities, code of conduct, and the school events calendar.
How/When Will School Council Meet?
- Tuesday, November 28th, 6:30-7:30pm, Virtual
- Thursday, February 8th, 8:00-9:00pm, Virtual
- Monday, April 22nd, Time TBA, In-Person and Virtual
