Outdoor Play and Weather

BG Families,

Depending on the season, preparing for outdoor play can mean anything from applying sunscreen to wear mittens and a hat!

During winter, it’s important that children come to school prepared for the cold. On cold days, we monitor the weather prior to each outdoor break.  Depending on the conditions, we determine if an outdoor, indoor or shortened recess is suitable.  Students should wear a warm coat, boots, mittens/gloves and a hat.  Staff will help remind students to wear all their outdoor accessories. It’s also a good idea to keep an extra pair of mittens, socks, etc. in their backpack in case they are needed.

We plan to only stay inside when the temperature is at or below -15C or below -20C with wind chill or when the rain doesn’t allow us to go out. Please plan for your child to be outside daily.
