Return for Jan. 17th

Happy Sunday, Ancaster Families!

We look forward to seeing students and staff back in the building as in-person resumes January 17th. In our efforts to stay safe, we will reinforce all protocols with students. We will be maintaining cohorting within the building and at nutrition breaks, which are staggered to provide as much space as possible and to minimize student traffic in the halls. Students will continue to have lunch with their cohort for 20 minutes, 2x daily, in which case they will remove their masks. Students must remain in their seats while eating, and only have their masks off while eating. Hand hygiene is an important component, and students will wash their hands upon exiting/entering classrooms. Students must wear their masks properly, covering both mouth and nose, in all areas of the building. Please help reinforce this expectation. If students have difficulty remembering or choosing to do so, they will move through steps of reinforcement in partnership with home. It is also a continued expectation that adults wear masks on school property. Thank you for your cooperation.

If you have borrowed a device from the school, please label and return the device and cord/cable to the school upon return. Students who are selecting the Temporary Remote option, or who are isolating, may keep the device at home as needed.

Student screening must be confirmed daily. For our first return date, if you don’t have a calendar to record confirmation, please provide a note stating “PASSED SCREENER” for your child. Students in older grades who have devices may show the “Green Checkmark”.

Please see the Board News on reminders before returning to in-person learning: https://www.hwdsb.on.ca/blog/reminders-before-return-to-in-person-learning-on-monday-january-17/

If there is anything we can do to help support you and your family with transition to in-person, transition to remote, accessing Parent Portal/Safe Arrival, understanding safety protocols, or if you have anything you’d like to discuss, please feel free to contact the school. We really are in this together.

In Partnership,

Kelly Dunford
