Student Safety & Vehicles

Dear Parents & Guardians:

Student safety is the first priority.

With the coming of the winter weather, it is important to remind everyone of the need to move safely around the school.

Remember, the safest way for students to get to school is to walk. Driving students to school creates an unsafe situation because of the increased congestion around the school.

Please remember the following:

  1. DO not enter the parking lot 15 minutes before and after school. The space is congested enough with bus and staff traffic, so other vehicles are not allowed onto the property.
  2. DO not pull into the driveways of the neighbouring houses. Please respect our neighbours by staying off their property.
  3. DO not have your children exit the vehicle to the street side. If you have to drive your child to the school, make sure they exit to the sidewalk side of the vehicle.
  4. Use legal parking spaces. Use of improper spaces not only can lead to ticketing but is also unsafe and increases congestion.

In addition, please follow the directions of the crossing guards, whether you are with children or not. By acting as a role model to any children who may be near, you are helping reinforce the safe habits of our students.

Finally, when walking on the property, please use the walkway on the south side of the school. Do not walk up the laneway on the north side. This is because it interferes with the bus loading and unloading.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Mr. Malcolmson
