Principal Update: Oct 6

Hello,

It was wonderful to see such a large turnout at the Meet the Teacher evening on Thursday. The weather was perfect and our staff did a great job in showcasing their classrooms. It was nice to see students taking pride and ownership in showing parents their work. A thank you to all our parent volunteers through our Home & School Association that organized the BBQ.

The next meeting of our School Council and Home & School Association is this coming Thursday Oct 12th at 6:30pm.  New parents are always welcome to attend these meetings.

Teachers are busy preparing the first formal Progress Report. These will be sent home with students on Oct 30th. Parent-Teacher interviews will be the evening of Thursday Nov 2 and during the day on Friday Nov 3. Further information will follow shortly. A reminder that Friday Nov 3 is a PA Day with no school for students.  The Scholastic Book Fair will also be held on these days https://www.scholastic.ca/readingreport/

Ancaster Meadow students participated in a very successful Terry Fox run today. The fundraising window is still open for a week. It was great to see all our students participating.  As fundraising for Terry Fox comes to an end, our Student Council is running “Socktober” which collects new socks for donation to local shelters. One of grade 5 classes already has over 60 pairs of socks already!

Ancaster Meadow Spirit Wear is available through an online portal:

Grade 8 graduation hoodie orders are also available through a separate order and are due Nov 1. Grade 8 students should see their homeroom teacher for details.

Grade 8 families should also note the following dates:

Ancaster High’s Grade 8 Parents’ Night is November 22 from 6:00 to 8:00

The AHS Grade 9 Option Sheet Night is January 17  from 6:00 to 7:30

Parents of our grade 7 and 8 students may be interested in attending the HWDSB myPath, myWay event on Nov 1 at Liuna Station at 6:30pm. This is an excellent opportunity for students and families to learn about many of the specialized high school programs that exist throughout the board. https://www.hwdsb.on.ca/secondary/programs/all/

As you can see, it is a busy time of year at Ancaster Meadow!

I wish everyone an enjoyable long weekend.
