School Evacuation Update

Dear Families,

This is a letter to inform you that we had a brief evacuation at Yorkview Elementary School today.

Staff detected the smell of gas and the fire alarm was pulled. This triggered an evacuation of the building. Hamilton Fire Department and Enbridge responded quickly.  No signs of gas were detected.

Students and staff remained outside while crews tested gas levels in the school and found no concerns.  Supplies from our Emergency Evacuation Kit were used to help keep students safe and warm.   Air flow systems were increased to move fresh air through the building. Hamilton Fire Department provided the all clear and staff and students re-entered the building.
