Progress Reports and Interviews – Families can expect a print copy of their child’s Progress Report to come home on Tuesday, November 19. Elementary Progress Report Cards are used to inform parents of the progress students are making toward the achievement of curriculum expectations for each subject. Parents and caregivers are invited to discuss their child/ren’s progress by attending a progress meeting in person or via MS Teams. You will be able to schedule your interviews using our online system.  An email will be sent to families by Wednesday with staff availability and the instructions and link to our online booking program.

World Kindness Day – World Kindness Day is an annual event that encourages individuals to practice kindness in their daily lives. It highlights the importance of empathy, understanding, and cooperation to create a more harmonious and caring world.  We take this week to remind ourselves that small simple acts can have a large impact on those around us. As a way to connect with the day, we will be wearing our favourite cardigan/sweaters in the spirit of Mr. Rogers (Daniel Tiger connection) on November 13th.

As Winona we focus on spreading kindness throughout the week, we plan to give back to our community, by running a food drive from November 11-15.  Our school goal is to collect 800 lbs of donations. A list of Hamilton Food Share most needed items can be found here. 2024 HUNGER REPORT

School Council Poinsettia Sale – Purchase via School CashOnline. Order Deadline is November 28th.  Poinsettia Pick Up Date will be December 12th & 13th. Funds raised will support the purchase of additional pinnies (jersey vests) for Winona athletics. Click on the link for more information. Poinsettia Fundraiser

Calling All Student Artisans and Crafters – School Council is planning a Winter Fun Fair on December 12 for the Winona community.  As part of this event, we will be running a vendor fair in the gym.  We would like to open up an additional vendor space just for our students in the Library. If your child is an artisan or crafter and would like to be part of our Student Vendor Fair, please complete the form at this link. https://forms.office.com/r/QkuKU2PdAS

Pediculosis (Head Lice) – Unfortunately cases of head lice (pediculosis) continue to be found in our school.  To help stop the spread of lice among our students, please check your child’s hair and scalp for lice and eggs regularly.  If you discover head lice or nits, it is important to apply treatment and remove nits to prevent spreading to others. Treatment products will kill the lice, but not all nits, therefore nits must be removed by hand.  Please also note that treatment for head lice is covered by OHIP+ for children and youth under 25. To obtain covered products visit your family doctor or walk-in clinic for a prescription.
