Winona News – Feb

Term 1 Report Cards – Term 1 Report Cards will be sent on Friday.  Be sure to check your child’s backpack. New this term, is our revised Language Curriculum.  Families will notice that teachers will no longer separate grades by language strands (Reading, Writing, Oral Language, Media), but rather provide an overall language evaluation that takes all areas of literacy into account.  To learn more about the new curriculum, visit  Language, Grades 1 to 8: a guide for parents (gov.on.ca).

Hot Chocolate Monday (Gr. 6-8) – Students in Gr. 6-8 are invited to bring $2 on Monday for a Hot Chocolate (Apple cider available for students with dairy dietary restrictions).  All profits will go to support the Grade 8 end-of-year events and activities.

Supporting Student Programs – During February we will be fundraising for two new programs at Winona (Healthy Snack Program and Imaginarium).  For families interested in supporting our Healthy Snack Program or Student Imaginarium (i.e. Makerspace),  we ask you to visit the following link (Donate | Foundation (hwdsb.on.ca)) to donate to The Hamilton Foundation for Students Success, the non-profit outreach of HWDSB.  Please indicate Winona School (Healthy Snack Program and/or Imaginarium) in the Additional Comments box and 100% of the funds donated will go to the school.  Tax receipts are provided for donations over $10.  Thank you in advance and we look forward to bringing these resources to Winona students.
