Message about HWDSB Program Strategy Review

Dear Tiffany Hills’ Family,

As we approach the end of May, we wanted to thank you for supporting your child’s learning journey at Tiffany Hills throughout the year.

As partners in education, we value your efforts and perspectives.  If you haven’t already done so, please complete the survey that HWDSB sent you on May 15, inviting your input on the HWDSB Program Strategy Review.  If this is the first time you’re hearing about this, please spend a few minutes learning more about it here.

In response to a Board-approved motion, HWDSB selected an outside researcher, R.A. Malatest & Associates, to review how our Elementary and Secondary program strategies, including the French Immersion Location Strategy and Application Process, align with our board’s Multi-Year Strategic Plan that was launched in 2024. Malatest will collect student, parent/caregiver, staff and community voice on how current programs reflect the vision and mission of our Multi-Year Strategic Plan.

Some highlights are:

HWDSB’s Elementary Program Strategy is close to 10 years old; the Secondary Program Strategy is 13 years old. Piecemeal reviews of these strategies have been conducted over the years.

This review is not the introduction of a new practice, but a return to a regular cycle to review programming and ensure it aligns with our Multi-Year Strategic Plan and Board Improvement Plan.

This Program Strategy Review will engage the larger HWDSB community (students, staff, families) to ensure fulsome participation and voice, using surveys, focus groups and interviews.

This is the beginning of the review process and we will continue to keep our communities (students, staff, families) informed as the review evolves. Stay informed by checking this webpage.

Surveys can be completed on computers and on mobiles.

This survey is available in English, Arabic, Farsi, French, Mandarin (simplified), Pashto, Punjabi, Somali, Spanish, Urdu, and Vietnamese. To select an available language, press the globe at the top-right of the survey page.

Here’s how you and your child/children can contribute!

2. Encourage your child/children, Gr. 5 and older, to have their say by forwarding to them the student survey: https://hwdsbreviewstudent.malatest.net/
3. Both surveys close by June 11.
4. The average time to complete the survey is about 15 minutes.
