TERRY FOX RUN/WALK – THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 21ST

Dear Parents/Guardians:

On Thursday September 21st students in Kindergarten to Grade 8 will be taking part in the annual Terry Fox School Run. The rain date will be Friday September 22nd.

On the event day, students in Grade 1-8 will walk/jog around a marked track on Templemead School’s back field as well as the soccer field area of Templemead park. Participating classes will be scheduled in 40-minute time blocks.

Prior to the event, teachers will have conversations with their classes around expected behaviour during the walk/run, and the physical boundaries of the walking area.   Kindergarten students will participate in fitness activities in the Kindergarten play area during their scheduled event time. A first aid kit will be available at all times.

Our school is proud to play an important role in keeping the legacy of Terry Fox going.  Students will have the opportunity to discuss and reflect on the heroic efforts of Terry over the course of the week.  Through our participation in the Terry Fox School Run, we hope to encourage leadership in our students and create positive agents of change in our wonderful school community.

All monies raised by Templemead students will be forwarded to The Terry Fox Foundation with 82 cents of every dollar raised going directly to cancer research.   To date, our school has raised over $11 000.00!

This year we will be encouraging online donations for The Terry Fox Foundation. It is fast, easy, and donors get a receipt immediately by email. To donate, use the link provided below. A pledge sheet has been sent home as well, for any donations by cash or cheque.

Your child may also choose to set up their own fundraising page by clicking the “Students: Set up a Page” button. Their page will connect automatically to our school’s fundraising page, and they will receive a link to email friends and family to help them reach their fundraising goal.
