Why is asymptomatic testing being recommended?

In addition to daily screening, masking and the other health and safety measures, targeted testing in schools is an important layer of protection that helps to limit the spread of COVID.

Who is eligible for asymptomatic testing?

Testing will continue to be voluntary for students and staff, and consent will be required from parents or guardians for students under 18 years old. Students and staff from the following schools, as well as all children and staff of child care and before-and after school care programs associated with the following schools:

  • You will be required to provide parent/guardian information along with child information including name and date of birth. You will also complete a COVID-19 questionnaire and a consent form (also attached for quick reference).
  • Once this information is entered, you will be able to book a time for testing.
  • Once you have completed the registration process you will receive an email with a QR code.
  • When you arrive at the testing location at the school, please make sure to be wearing a mask and to bring your QR code and your child’s health card. Walk-in appointments will be accommodated to the best of our ability.

Thank you for considering this voluntary opportunity. We appreciate the support as we look at all enhanced public health measures.

Voluntary targeted COVID-19 testing is a partnership between Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board, Hamilton Public Health Services, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education.
