Student Protest/Walkout

I’m writing to let you know that some of our students participated in a walkout this afternoon that was not a school-sponsored event.

A few intermediate students walked out of school at approximately 1:15pm to join students who are protesting the provincial government’s recent changes to education. Students who chose to participate were marked absent for the classes they missed. We have been in contact with all parents of students who participated.

We respect and support the right of students to advocate for causes that are important to them and welcome the opportunity to work with any student or student group to discuss ways to do so while they remain at school.

Our top priority at Tapleytown is to support student achievement and well-being while maintaining a safe environment for all. Please contact me if you have any questions.

Thank you.

B. Berketa,
Principal
