Spring is here! May is busy month at SWO . . . here we go!

SPRING MUSIC CONCERT

The Spring Music Concert is happening this Thursday, May 2nd.  Featuring, for the first time, our Grade 6 band who will be performing for the first time as a group!  We will also hear from our Grade 7 and 8 Concert bands, Grade 8 Jazz band, award winning Grade 7/8 Glee Club and a few soloists.  See you at 6pm in the gym. Seating begins at 5:40pm.   We suggest $5/adult and children are free

SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR

The Scholastic Book Fair is back! Our Scholastic Book Fair is a reading event that brings the books kids want to read right into our school.  It is a wonderful selection of engaging and affordable books for every reading level.  Please make plans to visit our Book Fair and be involved in shaping your child’s reading habits.

Book Fair dates: May 7th – May 10th

Shopping hours: Students can visit the Book Fair every first nutrition break to purchase books.  Families are welcome to visit the Book Fair during our Open House on May 9th!

Special Activities: Make a purchase at the Book Fair and enter a draw to win free books!  We look forward to seeing you and your family at our Book Fair!  The best news . . . all purchases will support the enhancement of our Library collections, very exciting!

OPEN HOUSE

Open House is just around the corner!  Next Thursday, May 9th – 5:30 – 7:00pm. (BBQ begins at 5:30pm)

Kindergarten to Grade 4:

• Rooms will be open (teacher present) from 5:30-6:15pm

Grade 5 to Grade 8:

• Rooms will be accessible from 5:30-7pm.  Teachers will be on the playground as well as in class, no time specified

Parents are reminded that if they would like an interview with their child’s teacher, please book a 1 to 1 appointment as Open House presents as a challenge as an interview time.

Don’t  forget . . . Themed Basket Raffle will be held at Open House!

WELCOME TO KINDERGARTEN

Coming soon . . . a Welcome to Kindergarten session for students new to Kindergarten for the 2019/20 school year.  This will take place on Thursday, May 23rd – 4:00 – 5:00pm.  Tell your neighbours with young children, this will be a great introduction to our school.

SAFE ARRIVAL

SafeArrival is here!  There is a new way to let SWO know your child is absent.  Ask your teacher for details.
