Senior Swim Team – Grades 6-8 Information
Dear Rockton Families/Guardians,
Mme Prentice and Mr. Schulze will be coaching the Senior Swim Team for Grades 6-8 this year. An interest meeting took place yesterday (Tues. Feb. 4th) to confirm numbers.
Permission forms for interested students will be handed out next week to be signed and returned.
- If your child is interested in joining the Senior Swim Team and was away yesterday, please have them speak with Mme Prentice or Mr. Schulze as soon as possible

General Information:
– There will be 5 practices and 1 Final Swim Meet.
– All events are 1 length of the pool (25m).
– This is a no-cost sports activity team for Rockton students
– Students will compete against other HWDSB schools at the Final Swim Meet.
Events are divided by Grade and include:
– Freestyle (Front-Crawl)
– Backstroke
– Freestyle Relay (4 student team)
– Medley Relay (Backstroke, Butterfly, Breaststroke and Freestyle)
Practices
Location: Dundas Community Pool
Time: (8:00am – 9:00am)
– Parents/Guardians are responsible for driving their child to practice and back to the school.
– Rotating drive arrangements with another family is a suggestion that may work to make mornings easier, as this is the only time available for us to practice before the Meet.
Swim Test:
– Students will perform their Swim Test in front of Lifeguards at the Dundas Pool on Fri. March 28th.
– 2 widths of the pool (any stroke), not touching the bottom of the pool.
– If successful, they are permitted to stay for the 1st Practice and participate in subsequent practices.

Final Meet
Location: Jimmy Thompson Pool (Hamilton)
Date: TBD (Thurs. May 1st or Fri. May 2nd)
Time: TBD (9am or 1pm) Event is 1.5-2hrs in length
Families are responsible for driving their child to the Final Swim Meet.
