Human Rights Information Sessions for Families and Students

Dear Rockton Families,

In celebration of Human Rights Day 2025, the HWDSB Human Rights Office (HRO) is hosting two

virtual information sessions for students and parents/guardians in HWDSB. The sessions will

provide an opportunity to familiarize students and families with their rights and responsibilities in

schools. They will learn about:

• Human Rights as Everyday Essentials
• The Ontario Human Rights Code and how it applies in upholding students’ rights in schools
• What the HWDSB Human Rights Office is and how it operates
• The Board’s Human Right Policy, Complaint Resolution Procedure and reporting
• What constitutes discrimination and how to report and address human rights concerns in

schools

• System navigation supports for students and families

The virtual sessions will be offered through HWDSB’s Teams Channel. Questions and comments

will be moderated. Registration is required for attendance:
