November’s Message from the Principal

To our Parents/Guardians,

As we begin to prepare for a change in season and daylight savings, our hope is that families enjoyed the end to October with the Halloween weekend.  It was great to see students dressed in costumes!  We have now officially completed two months of school and it has been a very busy, but exciting two months. There is a lot of great learning going on in all classrooms and we thank the Rockton staff for their commitment to student learning and to our continued work on our Reading and Math goals.

At Rockton, the month of November signals a period of reflection as it marks the first reporting period of 2023-24. It is the perfect time for students and guardians to receive a formal update of “how things are progressing”.  The goal of this interim report card is to provide an opportunity to identify both the student strengths and areas for improvement early in the school year.  It provides parents with a snap shot of their child’s progress.  It also gives us the chance to reflect on the great opportunities that living in a country like Canada offers us and to remember that many men and women lost their lives so we can have these opportunities.

As our weather begins to change, please ensure that your child is dressed appropriately for what the weather may bring.  Only in extreme conditions such as pouring rain, or extremely cold weather, do we keep students inside for recess.  You should always assume that students are heading outside for recess each day and plan accordingly for the weather.

Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Take care,

Mr. J. Manzin
