Principal’s Message -Kelly Rizzo

Hello Rockton Families,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself; my name is Kelly Rizzo and I will be the interim Principal of Rockton Elementary School until the end of June. I am a retired HWDSB Principal with more than 20 years experience in the role. I have served a number of communities over the years, rural, suburban and urban, and have learned from each and every experience. I always strive to apply my learning to make the schools I serve the Best Places to Learn. 

As a new school, there is yet to be developed, a mission and vision that reflects what is valued in your newly blended school community. I believe that when a safe, supportive and inviting learning community exists, the members within will strive to challenge themselves and one another cognitively, socially, and emotionally. While I am here for only a short time, I will work with staff, students and parents/caregivers to enhance this learning community to support all members in taking risks to further their learning and perhaps lay sound groundwork for this work to continue in the Fall.

As tends to happen toward the end of the school year, things will become increasingly busy. We will do our best to keep communication open with our families to ensure you are up to date on all things Rockton! We will continue to use School Messenger as our primary method of communication community wide. I will also make calls to parents/caregivers as needed. Upcoming Events

Please note our Spring Open House which is just around the corner will feature our annual Book Fair and a BBQ hosted by the Rockton Lions club, on May 11^th between 4-6:00 p.m.  We hope to see you here! Coming up later in the month is the Talent Show on May 25th. EQAO dates are yet to be confirmed for our Grade 3 and 6 classes (more information will follow).

Your continued support and interest in the development of Rockton students is greatly appreciated and I look forward to working with you.
