Rockton’s Nutrition Program

Happy Thanksgiving to all of our families!  I hope you get to enjoy time with family and friends over the long weekend!

Please be aware that we have started our Nutrition Program again at school.  Two mornings each week we will have “grab-and-go” snacks for the students.  The snacks meet the nutritional guidelines and are pre-packaged and individually wrapped so that they also meet the COVID guidelines.  Food items will be offered two days per week – usually Tuesday and Thursday, but this is subject to change depending on the availability of the volunteers.

We do our very best to be aware of any nutritional concerns, and food allergies.  Please make sure that your child’s teacher is aware of any restrictions that are needed for your child.  Parents are always welcome to provide some suitable alternatives to the homeroom teacher so that when the “snack bin” comes to the classroom, there will be something specific available for your child.

Some of the items we will be offering include apple sauce, frozen yogurt, nut-free granola bars, crackers, cheese strings, cheerios, and chex cereal.

Our program is funded through a grant offered by the Tastebuds Nutrition Program through the City of Hamilton.
