School Communication Strategies …

As the end of the school year quickly approaches, the number of events and special dates seem to multiply. To help you stay informed, our school has multiple ways we share information:

Sign on the Front Lawn. Information is posted about events typically happening in the next couple weeks.

School Website. We post both news items and events on our school website. These can be viewed on the main page and/or will be automatically emailed out to subscribers at approximately 8pm each night. You can also access a month-at-a-glance calendar of events by clicking on “Events” in the site menu bar.

Agendas. Our younger students use paper agendas. Teachers usually ask students to record events, important dates, and reminders in these books just after morning announcements.

Text Updates. Many teachers in our school use Remind.com to share text/email updates about homework, important dates, and upcoming events.

Flyers. We also periodically send home paper reminders/flyers for some events. However, we try to limit these for environmental and financial reasons.

Newsletters. Most teachers send home monthly/periodic newsletters to keep you posted about classroom activities. Some are also sent home electronically. Please note, we stopped sending home a paper school-wide newsletter some time ago.

Classroom Websites. Some teachers also have created classroom websites/blogs where they share information / updates. Links to these have been shared by teachers and can also be accessed via our school website “Classrooms” page.

As you can see, we value good communication with our parents and care-givers and have multiple ways of accessing information. Hopefully you access one or more of these and are kept up-to-date.

Have a suggestion? We value feedback. If you have suggestions on ways we can improve our communication in a cost-effective and environmentally-responsible fashion, please feel free to contact the school via our school website with your idea.
