April Updates
The warmer weather is finally on it’s way and seeing the sunshine more often has definitely brighten everyone’s day. As we head into our last few months of the school year we continue to focus on learning, as well as creating a safe and caring environment for all.
International Day of Pink is on April 10th, all schools across the country will make creating a safe and caring place a focus.
This day originated in Nova Scotia when two Grade 12 students witnessed a Grade 9 student being bullied for wearing a pink t-shirt. They launched into action and purchased 50 pink t-shirts to hand out the next day in support of the Grade 9 student.
Throughout the month of April classes at Mount Hope School will be engaging in activities that promote an environment where everyone is supported and accepted. On April 10th we will gather together for a walk where students and staff will be wearing pink to show support of the values of Day of Pink.
We invite parents and caregivers to join us – the walk will begin on the blacktop at 1:25 pm for 20 minutes (weather permitting).
We encourage everyone to wear pink to school on Wednesday!
