Staffing Update

We would like to share that Mrs. Laws will be leaving Helen Detwiler to support Queen Victoria as their full-time vice-principal. Mrs. Laws has been with Helen Detwiler for almost 2 years and has been instrumental in creating conditions for our students to be successful. Her leadership will be missed by staff and students and we wish her all the best at her new school. We would also like to welcome our new vice-principal, Mrs. Sargant  who will be our new half-time vice-principal. Mrs. Sargant will be starting at Helen Detwiler on Tuesday, November 14th. We look forward to have her join the Helen Detwiler staff and community!

Parent/Caregiver and Educator Interviews

Family involvement in students’ learning and school experience is critical to student success. All parents, caregivers, and guardians will be invited to participate in a 15 minute in-person meeting on November 16th and November 17th. This year we will be using an online booking calendar to schedule interviews during the interview blocks that educators are available. For parents, caregivers, and guardians who express difficulty in attending in-person at the school an option of a phone call or MS Teams will be given.

Our grade 7 and 8 and rotary subject (music, phys. ed, French) teachers will not be scheduling interviews using the online booking calendar. Instead, they will be set up around our gymnasium for parents, caregivers, guardians to drop-in and speak when they are available on Thursday evening (4:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.) and Friday morning (8:35 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.)

On Monday November 6th, an email will be sent to parents, caregivers, and guardians with a link to the Helen Detwiler Interview Booking Calendar to schedule their 15 minute interviews. Please contact the office if you need further support. (905) 574-2662.
