National Indigenous History Month and National Indigenous People’s Day June 21st

National Indigenous People’s Day is coming up this Wednesday June 21st. June 21st was established as National Indigenous People’s Day, through proclamation, as a National Day of recognition in 1996. It is a day that marks the summer solstice, and a day to recognize, celebrate, and honour the heritage of the many unique Indigenous Peoples on Turtle Island. First Nations, Metis, and Inuit communities across the nation host a variety of events to honour ceremony, and to engage and enjoy being in community. We recognize and honour our Indigenous community members at GLA.

The tournaments may be over, but if you are interested in improving your checkers and chess skills for next year, come to the Art room during 1st nutrition break. Please bring your lunches. All grades 2 to 8 are welcome.

Doodle Club will be outside on the blacktop today. Find Mr. Cowan by the junior doors.

Netball today for Grades 1-2 during the 2nd nutrition break. Please wait for Mr. Foreman to come and pick you up.
