Indigenous Community Invitation

Indigenous Community members,

The Safe Schools: Bullying Prevention and Intervention Review Panel is conducting a follow-up session to the
previous Indigenous Community session, which took place in March. Those who attended the previous
session are welcome to attend this virtual session and it will also be open to anyone in the community who
would like to attend.
The Review Panel members will be present in the session, which will be facilitated by members of the
Indigenous Community, who will ensure discussions include recommended solutions for the Review Panel’s
consideration in their final report. Your participation will help the Review Panel obtain authentic and
constructive recommendations around bullying prevention, intervention, reporting, and responding.
The Review Panel invites you to join the Virtual Indigenous Community Session as follows:
Date: Thursday, October 15, 2020
Time: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Zoom Link: Will be sent to registrants by email 24 hours before the session
If you can join, please RSVP by directly linking to our Safe Schools Virtual Indigenous Community Session
registration page at, https://safeschools-virtual-indigenous-session.eventbrite.com. You can also access the
event registration from our main Eventbrite page.
Registration will close on October 13, 2020. The day before the virtual session, a secure Zoom link will be
sent to all registrants by email from the Safe Schools Review Panel.
To ensure the Review Panel accurately documents contributions to conversations, sessions will be recorded
for the purposes of reviewing later and creating detailed notes. Once note-taking is complete, recordings will
be destroyed and will not be used for any other purpose. Participants will also not be identified in the notes.
If you are unable to attend the virtual session, please note that an online survey from the Review Panel is
forthcoming and will be shared with the community. You can also email [email protected].
We look forward to seeing you virtually to share your thoughts about what HWDSB should start doing, stop
doing and continue doing, as it relates to bullying, to build positive, safe and caring learning environments.
Thank you for your continued support,
The Safe Schools Review Panel
